9 Weeks

Well, we are 9 weeks into the pregnancy and had our 1st doctor visit last week. And thank God, the wife was impressed with the new doctor (he takes our insurance!)

Peanut!

If you have seen one of these before, the baby has some arm and leg buds and a heart, which was beating very fast. I guess i was relieved to see there was only one baby, but i was informed by the brother in-law that it was still possible to have two babies and that one might be hiding behind the other? what???

Insurance, Insurance, Insurance, INSURANCE.....

Well, this week is our first appointment with the ob/gyn during the pregnancy. And guess what? My company has decided to change insurance providers. And guess what? The ob/gyn that my wife has been going to her whole life no longer accepts our new insurance provider. And guess what? That Sucks!

This situation has taken the fun out of having a baby and points to the fact that the insurance industry and healthcare in general needs to be revamped. In order for my company that I work for to keep our rates at the same premium as last year, my company had to change providers. The provider they changed to is known for being hard on doctors and refusing to pay exhorborant, overpriced doctor bills. Therefore, doctors are dropping the provider.

Do i blame my company?--Yes!
Do i blame the insurance companies?--Yes!
Do i blame the doctors?--Yes!
Do i blame "W"?--Yes!

Why cant God's Royal Insurance Policy be good enough for the doctor's? That's all we really have!

San Diego Sales Conference....."Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes!"

Just returned Saturday am (1 am to be precise) from a sales conference in San Diego, Ca. We stayed at the Red Lion Hanalei Hotel.

You know sales conferences are almost always a waste of time. They are more for camaraderie and moral boosting! Well, this one was really no different. We had the presentations from the CEO, the COO, the president, the GM's, the account mgr's, the customer service mgr's, the distribution mgr's, the sales mgr's, and etc... We do have a dynamic president and it is always a pleasure to hear his presentation.

Anyways, the big topic at hand was the introduction of Pay on Scan (POS) by our #1 customer. We have began this in a few markets and will be rolling it out in the DFW market come February. Now, I am not a proponent of this concept which is basically consignment sales. I think we should just open tents on every corner and sell our product directly to the consumer. But, since our sales pie is heavily weighted by our #1 customer and my company is heavily weighted by investors, grower direct will probably never be a reality due to the risk.

Change is inevitable for success!

People always fear change. People feared electricity when it was invented, didn't they? People feared coal, they feared gas-powered engines... There will always be ignorance, and ignorance leads to fear. But with time, people will come to accept their silicon masters. Bill Gates

Red Raiders Go Down Hard!

Texas Tech looked like a bunch of high schoolers in a blowout loss to #5 Texas by the score of 46-80. Texas has won all of their conference games by at least 25 points and the Red Raiders fall to 2-2 in Big 12 play!

Cheers!

Three cheers for Holly and Scott!

We received our first baby gift today from Holly and Scott. It was very unexpected since we just announced we were pregnant. They sent us a couple of great gifts from Baby Gap! There was a swaddle baby blanket and a bear book, "Anywhere and Everywhere" by Leslie Jonath.

One jeer for Holly for changing jobs to the "Dark Side!"

Bobby Knight; "Is he still as good as he once was?"

Texas Tech vs. Texas! Tuesday Night at 8pm!

Watch the young Red Raiders basketball team get crushed by the highly ranked Texas team on ESPN tomorrow.....

That's what you would expect. But for some reason, Tech has been playing well as of late. We will see if they can keep Texas in check on their home court.

If you have watched any Red Raiders games this year, you would notice Bobby Knights lethargic pose on the sidelines. It seems he could care less about what's going on in front of him. Do you think he is actually paying attention or is he out there in "La La Land."

The Red Raiders are 2-1 in Conference play and should be 3-0 after a disappointing loss to the Aggies.

We'll see what happens tomorrow night....
Good luck to the Black and Red!

Hollywood

Has anyone ever been to Hollywood?

If yes, you have probably seen some of these images. These pics are from a trip not long ago. As most people know, King Kong is making a comeback. I think I prefer Kong in black and white vs. the colorful re-make, although, I have not seen the new movie.

I believe Spiderman was re-made as well. As a matter of fact, it looks like there will be a Spiderman 3 due out May 4, 2007. If only they could re-make "Every Which Way But Loose" and "Any Which Way You Can" with that great monkey named "Clyde" from the pic above.

Does anybody get tired of re-makes? I bet Shaq (my Indian buddy who coaches a women's college team somewhere in Illinois) can't wait for Rocky 6!

A Dog's Life!

Hello I'm Enzo and that's Harley below me!

It is such a dog's life at our house!
We spend at least 2 hours of our day opening and closing the back door so Enzo and Harley can enjoy the outside air. Although, Harley thinks we need to go outside with her when we open the door. No telling how many times I have threatened to take out a pane of glass in the bottom part of the back door so the dogs can have free rein.

The dogs also enjoy the great stare down, if you know what i mean. Try eating a plate of food without feeling like you have forgot to feed your dogs for the last week. They give you the puppy dog eyes and the whimpers, it's unbelievable! Don't worry, we always give in and use Harley and Enzo's tongue for washing the dishes.

Anyways, now you know what our dogs look like and the fact that they have complete run of the house. Boy, are they in for a rude awakening when the baby comes cryin'!

Paid In Full

Just received this great email message and thought i would pass it on.

A young man was getting ready to graduate from college. For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer's showroom, and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted. As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car.

Finally, on the morning of his graduation, his father called him into his private study. His father
told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him. He handed his
son a beautiful wrapped gift box. Curious, but somewhat disappointed, the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible, with the young man's name embossed in gold. Angrily, he raised his voice to his father and said, "With all your money you give me a Bible? and stormed out of the house, leaving the Bible.

Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business. He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his father was very old, and thought perhaps he should go to him. He had not seen him since that graduation day. Before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son. He needed to come home immediately and take care of things.

When he arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart. He began to search through his father's important papers and saw the still new Bible, just as he had left it years ago. With tears, he opened the Bible and began to
turn the pages. His father had carefully underlined a verse,

Matt 7:11, "And if ye, being evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more
shall your Heavenly father which is in heaven, give to those who ask Him?"

As he read those words, a car key dropped from the back of the Bible. It had a tag with the dealer's name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words...PAID IN FULL.

How many times do we miss God's blessings because they are not packaged as we expected? I trust you enjoyed this. Pass it on to others. Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; but remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for...

IF YOUR GIFT IS NOT PACKED THE WAY YOU WANT IT, IT'S BECAUSE IT IS BETTER PACKED THAT WAY! ALWAYS APPRECIATE LITTLE THINGS; THEY USUALLY LEAD YOU TO ATTACHMENTS!
